CERASORB ORTHO FOAM IN ORTHOPAEDICS AND TRAUMATOLOGY

Filling of bone defects and substance losses in orthopaedic and trauma surgery.

43 patients aged between 18-70 requiring bone augmentation or substitution have been enrolled in the trial. Patients with local or systemic infections or marked osteoporosis as well as patients on medication compromising wound healing were excluded. Clinical and plain X-ray examinations were conducted prior to surgery, 6 weeks and 3 and 6 months thereafter. Tolerability, absorption of the bone replacement material and bone fusion were assessed. Cerasorb® Ortho Foam is a synthetic composite consisting of 85 % β-TCP Cerasorb® by weight and 15 % collagen by weight (curasan AG).
