A free update for MILT 4, Medi-Dose’s industry leading unit dose labeling software, is now available. It includes the following new features helping to reduce the potential for medication error:

Tall Man Lettering: This feature offers to format known drug names in the tall man lettering style (e.g. DOPamine instead of DOPAMINE) as recommended by the FDA and ISMP.

CDC NIOSH List Matching: Newly entered and previously saved medication names are compared to the CDC NIOSH List of Antineoplastic and Other Hazardous Drugs in Healthcare Settings, 2016. If a match is found, the user is notified that this medication may potentially be hazardous to handle.

Auto-Lot: By user defined rules, Auto-Lot generates an incremental or random lot number when you print a label. This number is printed on the label, and it is stored in a dedicated field so it can be recalled in the electronic log.

“We’re always working to improve the medication packaging experience for pharmacists while helping to reduce errors,” says Robert Braverman, President of Medi-Dose. “These new features, and other recent improvements like changing controlled symbol numbering from traditional Roman numerals to standard numbers (e.g. using 4 instead of IV) as recommended by ISMP, demonstrate the commitment we share with you to help protect the safety of your patients and practitioners.”
