Falling Needle Viscometer Designed for High Pressure

Stony Brook’s UHPV-100 Ultra High Pressure Falling Needle Viscometer can handle viscosity measurements under extremely high pressure (up to 50,000 psi).

Stony Brook’s UHPV-100 Ultra High Pressure Falling Needle Viscometer can handle viscosity measurements under extremely high pressure (up to 50,000 psi). It delivers fast, accurate and repeatable viscosity measurements for oil, lubricants and supercritical fluids, etc. The viscometer comprises its main body with a sample container and a needle, and a manual pressure generator. The sample size of the viscometer is approximately 17 mL. The viscosity of the sample is determined by measuring the falling time of a needle through a predetermined distance within the fluids held in the cylindrical container. The falling time can be measured automatically, and the viscosity and temperature can be displayed on the measurement console screen and sent to a computer. It conforms to ASTM D5478. The viscometer is simple to use, accurate and repeatable for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. It can be used between -20 to +145 C. Absolute accuracy is better than 2% without any instrument calibration.
