3-D Printer and Materials Promise Speed and Accuracy - See more at: http://www.dentistrytoday.com/component/k2/item/1773-3-d-printer-and-materials-promise-speed-and-accuracy#sthash.Xmj9SlHQ.dpuf

EnvisionTEC’s Vida cDLM is the second 3-D printer based on the company’s patented Continuous Digital Light Manufacturing (cDLM) technology.

It offers the same build envelope as the original Vida, at 3.78 x 2.13 x 3.94 inches, but the build platform’s continuous motion in the Z axis increases printing speeds. Plus, it boasts an XY resolution of 50 µm and a Z resolution range of 25 to 150 µm, depending on the material. And by reducing the need for supports, it allows for easier cleanup and 3-D printing of castable partial frameworks with delicate clasps.

Meanwhile, EnvisionTEC’s E-Model 3-D resin printing material is designed to be accurate and durable. It can be used to create models for thermoformed aligners, crowns and bridges, and more. Also, it can be printed on EnvisionTEC’s large production 3-D printers such as the Vector 3SP, which does not require consumable parts. It joins the company’s dental materials library, which also includes the following:

- E-Dent 400, which is more affordable than E-Dent 100, for the direct printing of temporary crowns and bridges;

- E-Gum, which creates flexible gingiva masks for integration into 3-D printed dental models;

- E-Guard, a biocompatible crystal clear material approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the direct production of accurate nightguards, bite splints, and retainers.
