DEXCOM SHARE RECEIVES FDA APPROVAL

Smartphone-Connected CGM Cradle, Allows Glucose Data to be Shared Anywhere

Dexcom Share, a device that will permit users to share data from a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor CGM to multiple smartphones, has now received clearance from the FDA. The cradle device can now be marketed alongside the Dexcom G4 CGM system which consists of a sensor with a needle that remains under the skin and can be worn continuously for seven days. The CGM system provides regular updates on the wearer’s blood glucose levels and is similar to Senseonics’ CGM currently in development.

Dexcom Share will allow parents or caregivers of people with diabetes to remotely track the glucose of a child, spouse or elderly parent. This information can provide peace-of-mind to anxious loved ones from afar. According to Terrance H. Gregg, CEO of Dexcom, “With Dexcom Share, users, parents and personal caregivers now have a new tool to dramatically improve how they communicate about their diabetes.”
