SNAP PROVIDES AUGMENTED REALITY FOR BRAIN SURGERY

FDA approves Surgical Theater's Surgical Navigation Advanced Platform

Surgical Theater has secured FDA approval for its Surgical Navigation Advanced Platform, SNAP. The SNAP works in conjunction with operating room technology to bring surgeons a new 3D perspective of brain surgery.

The SNAP is a combination of flight simulation technology with advanced CT/MRI imaging, that allows surgeons to perform a “fly through” of a “patient-specific” surgery, in order to determine the safest way to remove tumours from the brain.

The platform allows surgeons to navigate around the brain with amazing clarity; they can pause, rewind or rotate the image to see if they are close to a vital artery or if the entire tumour has been removed. The SNAP provides the best augmented reality currently available to surgeons, and is destined to improve surgical outcomes.
