SAINT GOBAIN’S HEAT-RESISTANT POLYMER FOR SURGICAL TOOLS

Rulon polymer for the harmonic scalpel

An alternative to metal scalpels and electro-surgical devices, the harmonic scalpel operates at extremely high-temperatures to carry out its cut and coagulate surgical functions. Saint Gobain Seals’ is a key supplier of low-frictional, high-heat resistant Rulon polymer for hand-held surgical tooling such as harmonic scalpels.

The Rulon polymer can withstand temperatures up to 550°F (288°C), making it an ideal solution for steam autoclaving. Saint Gobain Seals offers eight Rulon materials that are FDA compliant, USP Class VI certified, and/or EU 1935/2004 and 10/2011 compliant.
