New Generation Equipment and Practices Help Hospitals Save Electricity and Money

New generation devices such as the Magnetom Amira from Siemens achieve substantial reductions in energy consumption by automatically switching to a standby mode when not in use. The machine is the first MRI scanner from Siemens to be equipped with its Eco-Power technology, “which monitors and controls the state of the helium that is responsible for cooling the magnet. This means that a power saving of up to 30% can be achieved in standby mode compared to when the feature is not activated.” New-era exercise bikes and stepping machines are also aiding the move towards energy-conservation.
