Rafael Grossmann Talks About his Experiences Using Google Glass in the Operating Room

In the latest edition of our quarterly e-magazine read our interview with Rafael Grossmann MD, FACS, dubbed the “Google Glass Surgeon”. In the interview he tells us about the positives and negatives of Google Glass and the potential benefits it could bring to the medical world. He also speaks about how privacy concerns hampered his further experimentation with the futuristic glasses.

According to Grossmann, “the majority of medical errors come from miscommunication and poor connectivity;” a connected device such as Google Glass can allow surgeons to consult “all accessible medical information without losing eye contact with the patient.” He finishes by speculating on Google Glass’s potential for artificial intelligence and its possible evolution as a high-performance personal assistant. The interview comes at a time when many people are expressing doubts on whether Glass will ever translate into a usable product.
