MEDICA 2014 : EMERGENCY CARDIAC LAB RESULTS IN 20 MINUTES WITH THE LABGEO IB10

Samsung’s IVD product can quickly and accurately analyze these crucial levels

The Labgeo IB10 could be a life changer for emergency patients. Launched a year ago and showcased at Medica 2014, Samsung’s portable immunoassay analyzer makes it possible to get highly accurate results in only 20 minutes.

The device looks like a nicely designed toaster with an infront-screen and a CD player. The CD player being obviously not made to play music but to quickly and efficiently run a test reagent. Samsung currently provides six kinds of immunoassay reagent, such as the Cardiac 3-in-1 test, able to measure troponin I, CK-MB and myoglobin at the same time.

“No more than 20 minutes is required to measure an ECG level,” explains Bernard Clarke, Business Development Manager IVD at Samsung Electronics. “This is extremely interesting for patients in an emergency situation, as it can mean that crucial tests have been done before the patients reach the hospital. And not only because of the speed but also because of this accuracy, as the system provides quantitative results of 90%, compared to a central laboratory.”

The Labgeo also differentiates itself from the competition by benefiting from Samsung’s communication expertise. Its intuitive user interface allows easy access to the results on its screen, and its networking capabilities mean the information can be shared automatically on a hospital server.
