How a playground fixture inspired a redesign of the stretcher

Designed for mountainous-terrain emergency service operations, the Seesaw Stretcher by Jeon Youngwon & Jeong Eunji has a revamped design to promote patient safety. Rather than an immobile board construction, the Seesaw stretcher integrates axes which allow the board to pivot, keeping the patient’s body horizontally-oriented when descending slopes. The axes can be locked, returning the device to a standard version stretcher.
