How not impossible lab uses 3D Printing to bring hope to sudanese children
Prosthetics for $100? Made possible with 3D-printing
Not Impossible Labs (NI Labs) is an aptly-named company that thrives by doing seemingly impossible things. The lesson here? Those things are not, in fact, impossible; NI Labs signature mix of technology and creativity yield incredible results.
Case in point: Project Daniel. In war-torn Sudan, Not Impossible Labs set up one of the world’s first 3D-printing prosthetic lab and training facilities. The result? Prosthetic arms for war-victims (mostly children) that cost around $100 to produce and can be printed in about six hours.
The project gets its name from Daniel Omar, the subject of a Times article that spurred NI Labs’ CEO Mick Ebeling to travel to Sudan and set up the revolutionary lab. Daniel Omar received a 3D-printed prosthetic in November 2013, and the project named after him continues to offer hope to Sudan’s victims of war.
