DARPA FUNDING TO ALLOW LUKE ARM USERS FEEL SENSATIONS

$7 Million Grant to Increase DEKA Arm Capacities Will Benefit Combat Veterans

Luke Arm creator DEKA has received a USD $7 million check from US research group DARPA. The substantial grant to a subsidiary of DEKA Research and Development is intended to expand the capacities of the Luke arm, to the point where users will be able to feel sensations. DARPA announced the launch of its Hand Proprioception and Touch Interfaces (HAPTIX) program back in April 2015 following President Obama’s State of the Union speech which called for the development of more sophisticated prostheses for US combat veterans.
