Expansion of APD’s Strategic Healthcare Modernization Initiative in Western Sahara
APD Drives Hospital Pharmacy Automation in Three Western Sahara Centers, Strengthening Care Quality in Low-Resource Regions
APD has announced the deployment of its comprehensive hospital pharmacy automation solution in the hospitals of Laayoune, Guelmim, and Dakhla, as part of a broad healthcare modernization initiative in Western Sahara.
Each of these centers has been equipped with advanced dosing systems, smart storage, access-control solutions, workstations, and automated carts—incorporating more than one hundred devices in total, all designed to transform medication management within the hospital environment.
This project carries particular social significance. Its implementation in regions with limited healthcare resources represents a qualitative leap in the safety, efficiency, and traceability of treatments, providing tools that reduce errors, optimize workflows, strengthen patient protection, and support healthcare professionals working under high-demand conditions with minimal technological infrastructure.
Beyond the current deployment, APD continues to expand the reach of its solutions with new technologies tailored to the specific needs of these settings. Among them is the ATHOS Dosys SF, designed to improve space utilization and the management of high-volume medications, as well as a new system for handling external and controlled drugs based on Bluetooth reading, which accelerates and secures processes where efficiency is critical.
In parallel, the company is advancing the development of intelligent carts with bedside administration software, enabling a fully closed medication-use circuit within the hospital and ensuring complete traceability from prescription to administration at the patient’s bedside.
These initiatives reflect APD’s strong commitment to the digital transformation of healthcare and to the creation of solutions that generate real social impact—particularly in regions where the modernization of medical care can make a profound difference in the lives of thousands of people.
