MIMI® – Minimally invasive implantation without incisions or sutures
Minimal invasive implantology as a clinical standard: biological concept, surgical protocol, and clinical relevance
MIMI® - The minimally invasive medical implantology was developed to perform implantations in a patient-friendly, safe, and efficient way. The procedure avoids flap formation, incisions, and sutures, and is based on current findings in bone physiology. Unlike classical protocols that primarily rely on “healing in rest,” MIMI® uses targeted functional loading to stabilize and maintain or build bone volume. MIMI® is based on a standardized insertion protocol with minimal soft tissue trauma. In practice, MIMI® shows high patient acceptance due to fewer postoperative complaints (less swelling, reduced trauma) and shorter overall treatment time. The method has been clinically established over many years and is used internationally in large case numbers. Case series describe stable immediate prosthetic restorations, including fixation of complete dentures with multiple implants. MIMI® represents an evidence- and experience-based minimally invasive treatment concept that combines surgical safety, biologically meaningful loading strategies, and practical prosthetic applicability. Therefore, it is suitable—when properly indicated—as a standard protocol for immediate implantations and rapid rehabilitation in dental practice.
