We start with the medical sector and show why oil-free compressed air is successfully used for shock wave therapy with ESWT devices.

Shock wave therapy is a modern and highly effective treatment option in orthopaedic and rehabilitation medicine, e.g. in the case of chronic inflammation.

In the RSWT, radial shock waves can be generated mechanically by compressed air. For this purpose, a projectile is accelerated strongly by means of compressed air and then hits an applicator lying on the skin. The impact impulse in the form of a pressure wave is transferred to the body via a coupling medium, such as gel. An oil-free compressor is used to generate the mechanical pressure wave.
