"Neurofeedback EEG" experiment for the Ax-4 / IGNIS mission

Research by the AWFiS team

On 14 April this year at 12.00 at the headquarters of the Polish Space Agency in Warsaw, the research team of the University of Physical Education and Sport in Gdańsk, led by Prof. Marcin Dornowski – the author and leader of the "Neurofeedback EEG" project – conducted follow-up tests as part of the first stage of the implementation of the objectives of the scientific experiment related to the Ax-4 / IGNIS space mission.

The scientific team included: Prof. Inna Sokołowska, Dr. Milena Lachowicz and Dr. Tomasz Szot. The study included a comprehensive assessment of selected psychological, neurological, psychomotor, neurophysiological and biochemical parameters. The tests were attended by Dr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski – a Polish astronaut – a member of the Ax-4 mission and the first Polish scientific and technological mission IGNIS to the International Space Station (ISS).

The aim of this stage was to obtain reference values of control indicators, which will be used to further assess the impact of space mission conditions on the human body and the effectiveness of neurofeedback applied before the mission. The research went smoothly, and all data was successfully recorded and secured in accordance with the requirements of POLSA, ESA, AXIOM and NASA.

The next stage of the AWFiS team's work was a visit to the AXIOM SPACE headquarters in Houston (USA), where similar research was carried out on another member of the Ax-4 mission.

A detailed report from the research conducted in Houston will be available soon.
