FOUR OXYGEN GENERATORS FOR TWO NHS HOSPITALS

MEDICAL OXYGEN FOR NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE HOSPITALS

The NHS Trust Reading Hospital in the English city of Reading, west of London, will receive three POC Med 8400 oxygen generators. Another one goes to the NHS Trust Jersey Hospital, which is located on the Channel Islands off the coast of France. The two hospitals are operated by the English National Health Service (NHS) and together have more than 1,200 beds. As the first Corona patients in England were accommodated in the Reading hospital, the medical oxygen produced on site will also be used to treat the lung disease COVID-19.

The NHS Trust Reading Hospital offers more than 600 acute beds, approx. 100 beds in the field of pediatrics, approx. 100 beds for gynecology and obstetrics as well as over 200 day beds. More than 5,000 doctors, nurses and employees take care of their patients. A further 200 beds are available to patients in the hospital in St. Helier on the island of Jersey.

The oxygen generators used in both facilities were delivered by Inmatec this week. The POC Med 8400 generators supply medical oxygen with the minimum purity of 94% required in England in quantities of 25 m3 each. The oxygen is extracted from the ambient air using the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process. For this purpose, it is pressed through a zeolite molecular sieve with pressure. In this way, the supply of medical oxygen to the hospitals is ensured at all times.
