COMBATING THE CORONA-RELATED LACK OF OXYGEN IN PERU

PERUVIAN MILITARY DELIVERS OXYGEN GENERATOR TO THE AMAZON

Health care in Peru is currently very tight due to the spread of the coronavirus. The oxygen supply for the treatment of Covid-19 patients is no longer guaranteed, especially in eastern Peru. Inmatec is currently supplying numerous oxygen generators to Peru. A POC 8400, which had just been transported to the capital Lima, was received by the Peruvian Air Force due to its urgency and from there it was taken directly to the Amazon region. There the generator will generate urgently needed oxygen for the patients in a hospital.

Many hospitals in Peru are currently no longer able to provide enough oxygen to treat patients. The need for oxygen has increased five-fold in the past weeks and months, as patients with the coronavirus-related lung disease Covid-19 are treated with pure oxygen. Around 265,000 people in Peru are currently infected with the virus, making the country number 6 worldwide. Due to the additional demand, oxygen that is urgently needed elsewhere is often missing, e.g. in operating theaters or in hospital wards for premature infants. According to media reports, patients sometimes have to bring their privately purchased oxygen to the hospital to be treated.

The demand from Peru for Inmatec generators has skyrocketed recently. Inmatec has already delivered numerous generators to the South American country. The POC 8400 oxygen generator now supplied to the Amazon region will in future generate 25 m3 of oxygen per hour with a purity of up to 95% from the ambient air in a hospital.
