DICK WHITE REFERRALS VET CLINIC IS COMPLETELY SELF-SUFFICIENT USING SELF GENERATED OXYGEN AND SAVES MONEY
CAMBRIDGE BASED COMPANY REPLACES LIQUID O2 WITH OXYGEN GENERATOR
Dick White Referrals (DWR) is a multi-disciplinary specialist veterinary referral hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Founded in 2003, DWR is one of the largest Specialist veterinary centres in Europe, offering outstanding levels of clinical care in state-of-the-art facilities. The clinic uses oxygen for anaesthesia, in operating theatres and for patient ventilation as well as in ward kennels and intensive care kennels. DWR relies on an Inmatec O2 generator to provide a continuous uninterrupted supply of oxygen to the whole hospital.
Dick White Referrals employs 349 people in clinical and non-clinical roles and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The hospital admits over 10,000 patients a year and receives referrals from over 780 clinics. The decision to procure and install a dedicated O2 generator came following an efficiency review at the hospital. Until recently, DWR utilised a national O2 supplier and would have regular deliveries of liquid O2. This was a costly option and did not provide adequate backup.
“There were clear savings to be made and for the first time we have complete self-sufficiency and adequate redundancy. Coupled with the financial savings, the excellent technical support that we have received has made the purchasing of an O2 generator from Inmatec´s UK partner Oxysystems one of the best decisions ever”, says Ben Lummis, Hospital Manager at Dick White Referrals Ltd.
The POC 8100 oxygen generator housed in a 20 foot container delivers 10 m3 oxygen with a purity of 95% per hour. The oxygen is supplied directly to the operating theaters and rooms via a pipe system. The container also has an air compressor, three large oxygen tanks and a bottle filling system. The bottles are used both as backup and mobile.
