ISOTOPE - Radionuclide fume hood - RNA
Radionuclide fume hood for working with volatile radioactive substances
The radionuclide fume hood is a special item of laboratory equipment for working and handling open radioactive substances. Its design and mode of operation serves to protect employees against incorporation, contamination, and exterior exposure to radiation, and its design is DIN-approved.
The shielding on the side and rear walls and on the bottom is up to 50 mm of lead, and may be increased by the operator with local shielding or with a stationary or mobile radiation safety window. The three-part vision and protective pane is movable horizontally and vertically, and is automatically lowered into its resting position if no work has been done in a longer period of time. The two-stage filter system prevents the escape of contaminated particles into the environment, and may optionally be supplemented with an activated charcoal/particulate filter combination. If needed, various undertable cabinets are available for storage of aggressive chemicals and solvents, such as an acid/alkali cabinet with its own ventilation system. With its low installation height and its telescoping vision and protective pane design, it is also suited for laboratories with a low ceiling height.
For working with Ga-68, we offer a special solution, comprising coating the fume hood casing with PE for working with hydrochloric acid.
