THE IMPORTANCE OF SURGICAL TROCAR IN LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

At the present time, the laparoscopic surgery, also known as closed surgery, is applied for the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal diseases. A medical device called a surgical trocar is used in this procedure performed with a small incision in the abdominal region. Surgical trocar has been developed and generalized in a short time due to its superior advantages compared to open surgeries. It also clearly shows that the patient is recovering faster.

The surgical trocar was initially manufactured as reusable and then continued to be developed as sterile and disposable. The surgical trocar has been used safely for about 25 years for single-use, due to the ease of use it provides to surgeons and the short recovery time it provides to patients.

The surgical trocar does not require large incisions during minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. The surgical trocar has a sterile assembly that allows multiple surgical devices or camera ports to pass through the abdominal region at the same time. In laparoscopic procedures that last less than 24 hours, it comes into contact with the soft tissue during surgery and leaves the body at the end of the surgery.

The surgical trocar is placed at several different points, one end inside the abdomen and one end outside the abdomen. In this manner, the camera and the light source are sent to the abdominal cavity, allowing the surgeon to follow the abdomen on the screen during laparoscopic surgery.

The surgical trocar is a highly preferred medical device for laparoscopic surgeries due to its ergonomic structure and easy use and safe structure
