Nitrogen cryosauna as the most effective methods of whole body cryotherapy.

By the 1940s, liquid nitrogen became more readily available, and the most common method of application was by means of a cotton applicator. In 1961, Cooper and Lee introduced a closed-system apparatus to spray liquid nitrogen. In the late 1960s, metal probes became available.

By 1995 whole body cryotherapy became a standard procedure in Departments of Pulmonary Medicine in Russia.

Liquid nitrogen is the best and universal freezing source because of its low boiling point and its ease of use. Other sources that are used to freeze, such as Freon, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide, do exist, but they are not as efficient because of their higher boiling points.

At Whole Body Cryotherapy 1,5 kg of liquid nitrogen ( 1 min procedure ) is used and it takes 5 kg to freeze out the Cryosauna (cabin startup).
