Guidelines to Biosafety Cabinet Usage

Based on the requirements of EN 12469-2010 and recommendations of the biosafety cabinet manufacturers and of the World Health Organization.

Class II biosafety cabinets are designed for physical isolation (containment and controlled removal from the work zone) of pathogenic biological agents (PBA) and microorganisms. The cabinets prevent airborne infection of the staff and air contamination of the working room. As a result, they ensure the protection of the environment as well as of working agents inside the work zone from external and cross-contamination.

However, the efficiency of a biosafety cabinet significantly depends on the correct work of an operator. The violation of the instructions for biosafety cabinet usage increases the risk of personnel infection and disease as well as of spread of infection outside the laboratory.

In order to support our customers in their work, the specialist of LAMSYSTEMS developed short and simple guidelines for biosafety cabinet usage. You can check whether you follow the recommendations in your routine operations or even print them out for your own use.
