Prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers on heels

Immobile people who do not move or reposition themselves often enough or reposition themselves often enough are at considerable risk of developing pressure ulcers.

The most common pressure ulcers are on the buttocks, sacrum, hips and heels.

According to a US study, 22.9% (nursing home) and 22.5% of all pressure ulcers occur on the heel. This makes the heel the second most common location where a pressure ulcer occurs.

To prevent this use heel pressure relief cushions that fully elevate and relieve heel pressure so that distribute the weight of the leg to the calf without putting pressure on the Achilles tendon. The Levabo HeelUp heel support cushion provides optimal care for pressure ulcers and also enables very cost-effective prevention for critical patients.

Levabo has developed a heel relief cushion that takes all the recommendations into account. This ensures optimal free positioning and prevents secondary complications. The easy application and the range of functions save time on the one hand and on the other hand it gives the caregivers safety.
