Multiline™ laser with new RecoSMA® technology in facial skin rejuvenation
The demand for aesthetic procedures, particularly in the facial area, has increased over the last decade. RecoSMA® laser technology has been proposed for facial skin rejuvenation and wrinkle treatment.
The Department of Plastic and Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery at the hospital Henri Mondor regularly applies the most advanced techniques of facial reconstruction in order to provide patients with facial mutilation aesthetic recovery. Professor Jean-Paul Meningaud, MD, Head of the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at the hospital, headed a study to objectively and subjectively assess the clinical efficacy and safety of the 2940 nm Erbium:YAG laser with RecoSMA® technology in facial skin rejuvenation. Professor Meningaud is widely known as his team conducted the first simultaneous transplant of a human face and hands in 2009.
METHODS
34 volunteers between the ages of 30 and 70 years were engaged in the study. The average age of the participants was 54 years. Each volunteer had two RecoSMA® procedures at intervals of 1 month. Evaluation of the skin was performed at 3, 6 and 9 months after the last treatment. The study was funded entirely by the hospital - The evaluation was conducted independently, with the assistance of outside experts, who knew nothing about the purpose of the study. Special devices that measured the elasticity of the skin were used. In addition, the number and depth of wrinkles was also measured with the help of a special program.
RESULTS
Positive changes were seen in all patients, without exception, regardless of age and skin type. Skin elasticity increased by an average of 14-19% in all patients and who visually looked 4-5 years younger.
CONCLUSION
Er:YAG+RecoSMA treatment is effective in facial skin rejuvenation without adverse effects and minimal recovery time. Professor Meningaud will present the results of the study at the IMCAS congress in Paris in January 2016.
