Applications of Zetasizer series across different sectors of the industry

Live Webinar October 28th, 2020

ZetaClass is a comprehensive webinar series on dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering where our experts walk you through the basic measuring principles, data interpretation, and tests performed to gauge data quality. Whether you are a new or advanced user of light scattering solutions, we will answer all your questions.

Nanoparticles provide crucial functionality across a wide range of materials, applications, and sectors. Dynamic light scattering analysis, together with zeta potential information, allows us to confidently measure the size distribution profiles of particles in the sub-micron range as well as assess the behavior of these nanoparticles in suspensions.

==========

The humble Zetasizer can help characterize materials under different processing and environmental conditions. Since most of the Zetasizers can perform DLS and ELS in the same instrument the applications become vast.

There are a large number of Malvern customers using their Zetasizer instruments in the quality control laboratories of their manufacturing facilities.

Zeta potential is routinely used to predict the relative stability of aqueous colloidal samples. If the zeta potential is >30 mV or <-30 mV, the particles tend to repel each other, which increases the subsequent dispersion stability. As the zeta potential moves toward 0 mV (the isoelectric point) the possibility of particle aggregation increases, leading to a reduction in the stability.

Common examples of zeta potential applications include colloidal formulations, surface chemistry modifications, and induced instability (typically in wastewater treatment). There is also much interest in the use of zeta potential measurements to examine protein surface charge and valence.

This webinar discusses the various applications of Zetasizer series across all different sectors and segments of the industry.

This session is led by Dr Anand Tadas, Malvern Panalytical's regional application specialist who has a wealth of knowledge in biologicals and DLS.
