Neo Modulus Tissue Adhesive: A New Option for Surgical Skin Closure
Precision, Flexibility, and Speed in Modern Surgical Wound Closure
As surgical skin closure continues to evolve, tissue adhesives offer healthcare professionals an additional option for managing selected surgical incisions.
Neo Modulus Medical's Tissue Adhesive, part of its Surgical Skin Closure System, combines a dual-component cyanoacrylate formulation with a practical applicator design for topical skin closure.
Dual-Component Formulation
Diverging from traditional single-component options, Neo Modulus Tissue Adhesive combines n-butyl-α-cyanoacrylate (for rapid bonding strength) with sec-octyl-α-cyanoacrylate (for enhanced flexibility), achieving an ideal balance between durability and patient comfort.
Practical Application Features
The product incorporates several features designed to support convenient clin-ical use:
1. Approximately 60-second curing time: Supports an efficient skin closure pro-cess.
2.Flexible adhesive film: Forms a flexible, water-resistant protective film over properly approximated incision edges. The film sloughs off naturally within 7–10 days without needing removal.
3. Twist-to-activate applicator: Facilitates activation and adhesive application.
Applications in Surgical Practice
Neo Modulus Tissue Adhesive can be used for selected superficial skin incisions no longer than 15 cm in specialties such as general surgery, gynecology, plastic surgery, minimally invasive surgery and emergency care and others.
In procedures such as cesarean section, deeper tissue layers may be closed with sutures before an appropriate tissue adhesive is applied to the superficial skin incision.
The practical application makes tissue adhesive a useful option to consider in selected surgical procedures where the wound edges can be properly approxi-mated.
How to Apply
1. Clean and Prepare the Wound
Perform standard wound preparation, including hemostasis and deep tissue closure as needed. Ensure the wound edges are clean and dry.
2. Activate the Applicator
Open the sterile blister and remove the applicator. Perform dermal suturing if needed, then rotate the outer shell to break the internal glass ampoule.
3. Apply the Adhesive
Approximate the wound edges and remove any blood or exudate with sterile gauze. Gently squeeze the applicator to apply the adhesive evenly along the incision line. Maintain approximation for 5–20 seconds and allow the adhesive to cure completely before proceeding to the next section.
