Ultraclean laminar airflow for operating rooms and implant surgery with mobile horizontal laminar air flow system
AN HORIZONTAL LAMINAR AIR FLOW SYTEM REDUCES BACTERIAL CONTAMINATION IN THE OPERATING THEATRE UP TO 95 % AND CAN BE INSTALLED IN EVERY OPERATING ROOM IN JUST A FEW MINUTES WITHOUT ANY CONSTRUCTION WORK.
Many existing operating rooms are not able to guarantee a high degree of asepsis as they are using a turbulent airflow system. The turbulent air flow creates turbulences and do not assure clean air for the area of the surgical site and instrument table. Conventional laminar air low system and plenum ventilation system do provide ultra clean air in operating field but not for the instruments as they are normally prepared outside the sterile laminar air flow zone.
Conventional operating room ventilation systems are hindered by surgical lights and the heads of the operating team itself.
The mobile und focused horizontal laminar air flow system combines the possibility to prepare instruments always under ultra clean air and reduces the contamination in the operating field up to 95 %.
Focused laminar flow system: the air is filtered via the most efficient Hepa filters (free of microorganisms) and then directed immediately to the surgical instruments and surgical site without having any obstacles in between. This protects the critical area of the operating theatre, i.e. the instruments and the surgical site. With this system, the bacterial load on the instruments and surgical site is reduced by 95% compared with conventional ventilation systems.
This operating room ventilation system Operio is a combination with high-efficiency particulate air filters
(HEPA), and a low and uniform velocity to ensure a maximum of asepsis in the operating room. This system can be applied whenever a ORs Class I is needed for orthopaedic, implant surgery, transplant, and other specialised surgeries or for medication of burns.
The system is available with a removable instrument table Mayo to ensure that the instruments remain protected and keep the sterility already during the critical phase of preparation.
Instruments can always be prepared in the zone protected by the focused laminar air flow unit, thus maintaining their sterility even during long operations. At the start of surgery, the instrument table prepared under focused laminar air flow is simply moved towards the surgical site and the focused laminar flow also protects the surgical wound area.
The focused laminar flow unit can be transported and installed in any operating theatre in just a few minutes without interfering with the existing ventilation system. It is an ideal system for prosthetic surgery and any out-patient surgery such as cosmetic surgery, ophthalmology, intravitreal injections, etc.
The focused laminar air flow system provides a flow of ultra-clean air for operating rooms at a fraction of the cost of conventional, ceiling-mounted units, enabling operating rooms to be upgraded and meet the ISO 5 standards.
Various international studies have confirmed that the bacterial contamination in critical areas of the operating theatre was reduced significantly with focused laminar flow. This resulted in a major reduction in the number of infections in the operating theatre after surgery.
