Vadoplex intermittent pneumatic pulse compression system
Vadoplex is a clinically effective mechanical prophylaxis system for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and thromboemolia (also for Covid-19 patients).
Vadoplex uses pulse technology imitating the hemodynamic effect of walking. Foot compression with the impulse system has direct access to the deep veins of the foot and produces better venous flow regardless of the circumference of the patient's thigh or calf (even in overweight patients). Compression on the superficial veins of the legs, with antithrombotic stockings or with the pneumatic calf or thigh systems, is too variable as it is strictly dependent on the patient's fat and muscle mass. Vadoplex produces almost twice as much femoral venous flow as the pneumatic calf or leg systems on the market. Vadoplex can be used as the only prevention system for DVT for those patients who are contraindicated to drug therapy because of the high risk of bleeding.
Vadoplex increases the effect of drug prevention in reducing the prevalence of DVT.
A Kakkos study with 7431 patients at high risk of thrombosis in orthopaedics, cardiac surgery, general surgery and gynaecology showed a significant reduction of 84% in DVT using intermittent pneumatic compression in combination with drug prophylaxis.
