Scarless Robotic Breast Surgery

It is already known that Robotic surgical systems like the da Vinci Xi can facilitate complex procedures

But robot-assisted minimally-invasive surgery may have a “hidden” benefit—the best part is what you don’t see. The MARCI trial study of a procedure that reduces the size of post-mastectomy scars and limits them to the armpit is underway in France. Such advantages reduce patient anxiety. But the entry point was too far from the breast for direct intervention. Tests on a cadaver led to rapid CE approval for the robot. Final evaluation of the procedure with the 3-arm robot is due in November 2018.
