InnerScope launches NEXUS as a "self-fitting" hearing aid

Many hearing healthcare professionals (HHCPs) will be more than a little scornful, but InnerScope's launch of Nexus, a "self-fitting" hearing aid, comes with the warning that it is "revolutionizing the industry".

In fact, the launch of Nexus by InnerScope Hearing Technologies takes advantage of the direct-to-consumer (DTC) legal sales option in the US, prior to the even more liberal framework of over-the-counter regulations planned for the market in 2020. Nexus will go through big-box retailers and online as a self-fitting hearing aid.

InnerScope claims this is the only hearing aid out there "without the need or the cost of seeking the assistance of a hearing healthcare professional". The Nexus device uses a built-in self-testing "Auto-Hear" program that InnerScope claims will accurately fit and personalise in six minutes. The device also has a remote programming feature that allows the firm's remote hearing care professionals to program it from anywhere in the world. And the world is Innerscope's catchment area; the firm states a mission "to serve approximately 1.2 billion people around the globe that are suffering with 25 db or greater hearing loss"

Estimating a saving on Nexus of 60-80% against going through an audiologist, InnerScope is beginning its launch process through the dot-com stores Walmart, Sears, and Kmart. InnerScope has also launched the NEXUS on auto-hear.com, its own eCommerce website dedicated only to its Direct-to-Consumer Self-fitting Hearing Aid Devices.
