Care Robot

The care robot Lea (Lean Empowering Assistant) enables the elderly to remain active and independent in their own homes. She helps users to train their physical fitness and maintain a daily routine, for instance by reminding them to take their medication. Despite her artificial intelligence, Lea does not look intimidating. She interacts via a technical interface that works like a tablet PC. The design is based on that of a rollator, which conveys a sense of familiarity.

Lea translates intelligent technology into a plausible, sympathetic design, which significantly contributes to acceptance by an older target group.
