GNI: NEXT GENERATION CT-SCANNER FOR PETS

Affordable CT Scanner Designed Specifically For Small to Medium Sized Veterinary Clinics

The next generation of CT-scanner for pets is here. Danish-based GNI has developed a CT-scanner specifically for small animals such as dogs, cats and exotic pets. GNI worked closely with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the University of Copenhagen (the Niels Bohr Institute) and veterinary professionals to design an ergonomic, high performance machine that responds to the requirements of vets who run small to medium sized clinics. According to a press release from GNI, “The target customer is a small to medium sized specialized veterinary clinic with a weekly need of 2+ CT-scannings.”

CT-scanning provides vets with a high level of detail that assists them in their daily work. High resolution images obtained via CT-scanning facilitate better diagnosis. The manufacturer believes it has created an affordable and easy-to-install CT-scanner that will be of real value to veterinarians. Animals weighing up to 100 kg can be accommodated, with a scan resolution down to 0.10 mm x 0.10 mm (0.004 inches x 0.004 inches) in pixel size and 0.10 mm (0.004 inches) in slice thickness. Additonally, with the aid of 3-dimensional rendering a 3D model can be created of the scanned part of the animal, which can further aid vets to make a diagnosis.
