SIEMENS MAGNETOM AMIRA MRI, OPTIMIZED FOR FAST PATIENT TURNAROUND

Siemens has just unveiled its new 1.5T Magnetom Amira MRI (tomography system) at RSNA in Chicago, US. The system is optimized to perform quicker scans, some of which can be performed within ten minutes, while also consuming less energy when the scanner is not in use.

The Magnetom Amira is equipped with an Eco-Power mode that can reduce electricity use by up to 30 percent when switched to standby compared to when the eco feature is not turned on. Essentially, the state of the helium inside the machine is continuously monitored, so only the minimum energy needed to cool and re-liquify it is expended. Additionally, the system includes modifications that prevent any of the gas from boiling off and evaporating, which will reduce costs and minimize the maintenance required to keep it working.
