CARNEGIE MELLON CREATES “WIKIPEDIA” FOR NEURONS

Publicly Available Website Created to Make Sense of "Brain Big Data"

‘Big data‘ is being used in all areas of medicine to make new discoveries and to increase our understanding of the body. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, US, have created a publicly accessible website that groups together a huge amount of data concerning neurons; in effect it is a sort of ‘wikipedia’ for “brain big data”. The website will provide neuroscience researchers with a “centralized resource for collecting and comparing data on neuronal function” and brings together pertinent data on neurons spread across tens of thousands of scientific research papers.
