MEDICAL IMAGING PROJECT GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

Carestream Medical Imaging Mutualisation Project in France

A project in north central France set up to provide a medical imaging solution for both public and private healthcare facilities is making great progress. The MIRC project was kickstarted by the Groupement de Cooperation Sanitaire (GCS) TéléSanté Centre when it engaged Carestream Health France to provide a Carestream PACS solution for the Centre region in France. PACS allows participants to exchange, store and share medical imaging files and is designed to enable medical professionals to have quick and easy access to previous radiological examinations no matter where the consultations took place and therefore ensure greater continuity in patient care. So far, eight institutions have signed up to the project, including Tours University Hospital and CH Bourges, with more to come.
