ROGERVOICE: FIRST-OF-A-KIND SUBTITLING APP

Innovative App with Potential Applications in Telemedicine Launches on Kickstarter

Yesterday, RogerVoice an app start-up based in Paris, France launched its Kickstarter campaign. The application RogerVoice has been designed from the ground up and is being billed as the first subtitling app (for smartphone and tablet) for deaf people worldwide. Essentially it transcribes your phone calls into text, so deaf or hard-of-hearing phone users receive instant live text transcriptions during a telephone conversation. It will cover most of the major spoken languages in the world, such as English, Spanish and Portuguese to German, Greek and Japanese.

This unique app could have direct applications in the medical industry. For example, in the field of telemedicine, patients who are deaf or hard-of-hearing may be partially or wholly excluded from engaging with their doctor over the telephone. Using this app patients no longer have to fear interacting with their doctor over the phone. RogerVoice founder Olivier Jeannel who is profoundly deaf, has a particular understanding of the challenges facing those who are hard-of-hearing. This app is an empowering tool that could enrich the lives of countless people around the world.
