Levo System Trains Brain to Block-Out Ringing Noises Connected to Tinnitus

During the summer we wrote about the Serenity System (developed to help tinnitus sufferers) which is undergoing clinical trials in the US. The Serenity System uses an implanted transmitter to retrain the brain by stimulating the vagus nerve. Now, an Apple-based system from tech company Otoharmonics has been apporved by the FDA. The new technology is known as the Levo system and consists of an app, patient-specific earbuds and an Apple device (iPad or iPod Touch). The Levo system trains the brain to block-out ringing sounds caused by tinnitus, and is based on technology developed at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
