Mount Converts Tablet into Dynamic Imaging System

Motic has designed a tilt-and-swivel C-mount for iPads and tablets so they fit directly onto an optical microscope, magically converting them into a dynamic imaging station that will preview, acquire, store, measure and communicate microscope images.

The result is an economical, easy-to-use imaging solution that promotes teamwork, interaction, sharing, learning retention, and collaboration, ideally suited for the classroom, doctors’ offices, the lab and the production floor. Built on Android technology, the line includes two tablet cameras, the 7” Moticam S2 and the 10” Moticam T2. Both come pre-loaded with proprietary application software, enabling the microscopist to install the cameras quickly and get to work imaging. Just tilt-and-swivel the C-mount coupling to position the screen at a comfortable angle for easy review with colleagues or students. Capture high-quality images and HD videos with just one click. Measure and edit images with the touch of a finger. Both tablet Moticams are managed by Android’s 1.6 GHz quad core processors using 1 GB of DRAM, and both sport 1280 x 800 displays. The S2 provides 8 GB internal memory, while its bigger cousin boasts 32 GB. Because images devour storage, both systems are equipped with micro SD cards up to 32 GB. They also “play well with others,” readily sharing images and movies via Bluetooth, WiFi and HDMI connections.
