Platform Combines High-accuracy Imaging, High X-ray Dose Rate

Precision X-Ray’s X-RAD SmART is an advanced small animal image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) system that combines high-accuracy imaging with a high X-ray dose rate in a single platform.

The system enables researchers to image, plan and treat without repositioning the specimen. The isocentric design allows the specimen to remain stationary while the imaging and treatment platform rotate a full 360° around the subject. This improves total dose delivery to the targeted area and reduces damage to non-targeted surrounding structures. With flexible cabinet designs, the multiple size options will fit the needs of large and small facilities. The system also provides modularized tools for planning complex 3-D conformal radiation treatments. Calculation and visualization of 3-D dose distributions are performed using globally accepted state-of-the-art Monte Carlo simulation techniques that provide high dosimetric accuracy. The imaging system incorporates a fully integrated EMCCD camera to provide 360° optical/bioluminescence imaging to improve tumor targeting.
