New Release: Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Calibration Phantoms from Pure Imaging Phantoms

Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Calibration Phantoms from Pure Imaging Phantoms

Pure Imaging Phantoms has announced the release of its new Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Calibration Phantom range, designed for accurate and reproducible calibration in CT and Micro CT imaging applications.

The new BMD phantom systems have been developed to support quantitative bone mineral density analysis using hydroxyapatite (HA)-equivalent reference standards. Manufactured using precision calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) materials embedded within a stable matrix, the phantoms provide reliable calibration references for research, preclinical imaging, and advanced CT workflows.

Available in multiple rod sizes and HA-equivalent concentrations including:

HA250 (250 mgHA/cm³)
HA750 (750 mgHA/cm³)
HA1250 (1250 mgHA/cm³)
the system enables users to calibrate across a broad range of trabecular and cortical bone densities.

The phantoms are suitable for:

Micro CT bone analysis
Quantitative CT (QCT)
Osteoporosis research
Longitudinal bone studies
Preclinical imaging validation
OEM integration into imaging platforms
The release comes at a time when demand for accurate HU-to-HA calibration standards continues to grow across both clinical and research imaging environments. Industry-standard BMD systems commonly utilise CaHA-based inserts for quantitative calibration and densitometry validation.

Pure Imaging Phantoms also offers customisation options for OEM partners and imaging manufacturers, including bespoke rod dimensions, concentrations, and phantom configurations tailored to specific scanner geometries and workflows.
