SHEETSPLINT : Splint all major extremity injuries
The future splint in the treatment of traumatic emergencies
ORIGINS
SHEETSPLINT was invented by a former combat paramedic. He refused to accept that lightweight splints didn’t provide effective immobilisation to long bone fractures, often causing secondary injuries. Rait developed the idea taking cue from origami paper folding practices to create a lightweight and compact, yet a very robust splint, which can be used to immobilise all major extremity injuries.
It is used in ambulances, field hospitals and training centres by the Estonian Defence Forces, the Estonian Defence League, and the Estonian Rescue Board. SHEETSPLINT is currently tested by the armed forces of multiple NATO member states
APPLICATIONS
The universal Sheetsplint is used in pre-hospital emergency care and serves to immobilise extremity fractures. Each kit contains four identical, foldable modules that can be combined to take care of one or several injuries, including long bone fractures.
The modules can be folded into a compact stack and stored space-savingly due to their rectangular shape.
