Slide Staining and Mailing

Simport's offering for slide staining and mailing

Glass plates, coverslip, or object holder slide?

The small glass rectangles on which the samples are placed have many names. Depending on your education and where you come from, you will hear one or the other. Let’s say for simplicity’s sake that the thicker glass plate on which the sample is deposited is a slide and the very thin piece of glass that is deposited on top of the sample is a coverslip.

Why am I telling you all this? Simport does not make glass products that I know of. Well, that’s because Simport offers a variety of products that are used to handle and/or store slides, a product widely used in histology labs.

First, our great M495-12 laboratory marker marks slides very well to identify them. Then, you will surely know our Easy-Dip and StainTray staining accessories, used to stain the specimens deposited on the microscope slides.

The stained slides must be presented to the doctor, pathologist, or other so that he can analyze them in order and clearly. For this use, the product of choice is the SlideFolder which simplifies the work with its transparent covers. These are stackable and you would be impressed to see the heights of the stacks on the desks! We also offer the SlideTray which serves the same purpose without offering the identical compact shape but which simplifies the grip of the blades.

The stained and analyzed slides are kept for varying lengths of time and horizontal storage is not the most efficient. For this application, we offer our SlideFile and DrainRack which are available in capacities of 100 or 200 slides. You can place the slides directly after having picked up the sections in the flotation bath which allows them to dry and the box has a cover that protects the slides from dust while allowing the contents to be seen.

Finally, when you need a colleague to also assess a difficult case, we must send him the slide in question. Glass is fragile, so you have to use a system designed for this robust use. To help customers we offer to replace the cardboard envelopes typically used with a solid, reusable, and more efficient system. The famous Unimailer allows you to send an almost unlimited quantity of blades by nesting the modules on top of each other creating each time a new compartment for a single slide. A picture is worth a thousand words so just watch the video on our website to understand how ingenious it is. For more conservative users, we offer the more classic Lockmailer. However in both cases, the inviolability of the content is offered, thus helping to maintain the confidentiality of the results.
