Alpha 2 MPO™ by Sophono - Bone conduction with the smallest implant on the market

The Sophono® Alpha 2 MPO™ bone conduction hearing device brings abutment-free bone conduction to your patients with the smallest implant on the market. The Sophono implant is placed under the skin above and behind the ear. After healing, the skin and hair look normal, with no titanium abutment protruding through the skin like other bone conduction systems. The implant consists of two magnets hermetically sealed in a titanium case. An Attract® adjustable-strength magnetic spacer (connected to the processor) is held in position by the magnetic implant. The processor transmits audio vibrations through the skin into the bone where sound is sensed by the cochlea.

When it comes to bone conduction hearing devices, your patients will prefer these Sophono differences:

Transcutaneous Energy Transfer (TET™)

The Sophono sound processor picks up sounds through its microphones and converts them into vibrations, which are transmitted through the skin to the skull bone.

No Percutaneous Abutment

This will be great news for patients, especially those who are conscious of their appearance and for children who may not clean the exposed metal routinely.

The Smallest Implant

At a mere 16mm width by 39mm height by 2.2mm depth, the magnetic implant is the smallest on the market and a safe alternative to more intrusive implants.

Compared with other transcutaneous hearing systems:

ƒƒSophono boasts the very smallest implant on the market, a safe alternative to more intrusive implants.

Sophono has an extraordinarily low complication rate, a ten-year clinical history, and over 4,000 patients in 55 countries.

ƒƒSophono has the smallest processor with the lowest profile, a sleek solution that may be hidden under the hair.

The Sophono abutment free hearing system features a titanium implant, an external processor, and Attract® magnetic spacers with variable strength to ensure patient comfort and safety.

TET™ Technology

Transcutaneous Energy Transfer (TET) technology enables maximum transfer from the Sophono sound processor, through the patient’s skin and magnetic bone implant, to the working cochlea. TET eliminates up to 20 dB of energy reflection on skin typically associated with percutaneous systems.1

MRI Safe up to 3 Tesla

In non-clinical testing, when positioned parallel to the patient table, the Alpha (M) Magnetic Implant maintained over 95% of its original magnetic strength after 10 insertions into the static magnetic field of a 3-Tesla MR system and a 10-minute imaging sequence in a 3 Tesla Siemens Tri Clinical MRI Scanner (MRC20587).

You can safely use an MRI only under the following conditions:

ƒ Remove all external components including the Otomag Alpha Sound Processor, Magnetic Spacer, Headband or Softband before entering the MRI environment.

Static magnetic field of 3 Tesla or less

Spatial gradient field of 720 Gauss/cm or less

Maximum whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (SAR) of 4 W/kg in the First Level Controlled Mode for a maximum scan time of 15 minutes of continuous scanning (per pulse sequence).
