Expanding upon Normal Blood Pressure Measurements - Innovative Method

Arteriograph Improves Arterial Stiffness Assessments

Cardiovascular diseases create a significant burden on the health care system worldwide. The major cause of the cardiovascular diseases is atherosclerosis and vascular calcification. During these processes the arteries are stiffened and loses their elasticity.

PWA (Pulse Wave Analysis) and PWVao (Aortic Pulse Wave Velocity) measurements are fundamental tests to reveal arterial stiffening due to asymptomatic atherosclerosis and vascular calcification. The arterial stiffness parameters have proven prognostic value regarding cardiovascular events (stroke, myocardial infarction), and this relationship is independent from the traditional risk factors (age, smoking habit, systolic blood pressure, gender, and cholesterol).

Arteriograph is the first, original, patented non-invasive method and device, which measures aortic pulse wave velocity (PWVao), aortic augmentation (AIXao) and central (aortic) blood pressure (SBPao) with a single upper arm cuff. The measurement is user independent and fast, only 3 minutes. The device is portable and lightweight, allowing its use from outpatient clinics to hospitals. The operation requires only 4 AA type alkaline or rechargeable batteries.

The device’s software provides a comprehensive report with detailed explanation of the measured parameters and their threshold values for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

The simple operation of Arteriograph device allows its implementation of the arterial stiffness measurement widely in the routine clinical practice.

Arteriograph can successfully be used in many other clinical applications, as well. Independent scientific papers prove its useability in diabetes care, in nephrology, in population studies, in obstetrics and gynaecology, in paediatrics and in sport medicine.

Formerly, the parameters measured by Arteriograph were only available with invasive, intra-arterial catheterization primarily. Arteriograph now offers a user-friendly, easy, non-invasive method for the measurement of central hemodynamic with clinically validated accuracy.
