What is hysteroscopy?

Model:Hysteroscopy Simulator

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment technology for the uterus. Hysteroscopy refers to the use of uterine expansion medium to expand the uterine cavity. Through the optical fiber glass fiber endoscope inserted into the uterine cavity, the physiological and pathological changes of the cervical canal, the internal cervical os, the uterine cavity and the fallopian tube opening are directly observed, so as to directly and accurately obtain samples of the diseased tissue and send them for pathological examination. At the same time, surgical treatment can also be performed directly under hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopy has the advantages of less trauma and low cost. It is the preferred examination method for abnormal uterine bleeding and intrauterine lesions.

Hysteroscopy is mainly applicable to the following situations:

1. Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB)

2. Suspected intrauterine adhesions and uterine malformations

3. Imaging suggests intrauterine space-occupying lesions

4. Recurrent miscarriage

5. Repeated implantation failure

6. Abnormal bleeding of childbearing age is ineffective with drug treatment, menopausal bleeding, etc. Track the pathological results and consider whether follow-up treatment is needed based on the results.

Steps of hysteroscopy:

1.Dilate the cervix to the required size, place the hysteroscope into the cervical os along the uterine cavity, and inject 5% glucose solution into the uterine cavity at the same time. After flushing, you can drip glucose solution into the uterine cavity to expand the uterus;

2.After the uterine cavity is fully dilated, you can use the hysteroscope to observe the uterine cavity shape and endometrium, turn the hysteroscope to check the various parts of the uterine cavity in sequence, and finally check the uterine cavity tube, and then slowly withdraw the cervix. Glucose solution dripping must be maintained during the inspection;

3.Tissue biopsy, foreign body removal and other operations can be performed through the operating channel of the hysteroscope.
