ulrich medical is one of Germany’s innovation leaders for 2020

The medical technology manufacturer from Ulm holds its own against a total of 150,000 German companies

Ulm, July 2020. In this year’s study carried out by the F.A.Z Institute in cooperation with the Institute for Management and Economic Research (IMWF) as well as scientific associate Prognos, ulrich medical has been named one of Germany’s innovation leaders for the year 2020. The comparison is based on an international patent analysis over the last ten years.

This year, a total of 150,000 German companies went under the microscope to determine their innovative strength. The study is based on a scientifically sound analysis of data from the EPO Worldwide Patent Statistical Database (PATSTAT) of the European Patent Office. This database contains over 100 million patents from all leading industrialized and developing countries and this means that it provides an overview of all economically significant countries in the world. This also includes the patents from the two product areas of Contrast Media Injectors and Spinal Implants from ulrich medical. The decisive factor in determining which companies are leading innovators was how often a patent is cited by other patents, in other words how strongly it influences other patents. Another point that was examined was the extent to which the development of the patent differs from others. The fewer patents cited, the more innovative the idea is. All in all, this was able to give an overview of the international impact and interaction of patents and patent families over the past ten years.

Innovative strength from Ulm

ulrich medical is in good company as Germany’s innovation leader for 2020. After all, it was mainly companies from research & development such as Siemens AG, Audi AG or the German Aerospace Center (DLR) that secured a spot among the award winners in 2020.
