Change unhealthy lifestyle for bone health
Six bad habits, may make bones more fragile, more prone to osteoporosis.
Data show that about 20% of elderly patients with hip fracture die from various complications within 1 year, and the disability rate of survivors is 50%, so hip fracture is also known as "the last fracture in life", and it is also one of the reasons why many elderly people "fell and died". Factors that affect bone mineral density include age, gender, genetics, poor lifestyle, and diet.
Six bad habits, may make bones more fragile, more prone to osteoporosis.
1. Often drink coffee, strong tea, carbonated drinks
Drinking large amounts of coffee, strong tea and carbonated beverages is associated with calcium loss and decreased bone mineral density. Among them, caffeine in coffee and strong tea has diuretic effect, calcium, potassium, magnesium, vitamin B group and other important nutrients may be lost with urination, thereby increasing the risk of osteoporosis; The large amount of carbonation in carbonated beverages can disrupt the calcium and phosphorus balance in the daily diet, resulting in a decrease in bone density. Many people may be inseparable from coffee, tea, carbonated drinks in life, here, it is not to let everyone completely do not drink. You can drink, but to control the amount, such as coffee no more than 2 cups a day, tea is weak, as for carbonated drinks, can not drink as much as possible.
2. Eat takeout regularly
The main problem with takeaways is that salty, high-salt diets are too much, and sodium inhibits the absorption of calcium in the gastrointestinal tract and may lead to increased excretion of calcium in the urine, causing osteoporosis.
3. Not exercising
Exercise, especially weight-bearing exercise or impact exercise, is one of the effective ways to increase "peak bone mass" and delay bone mass loss, which is conducive to promoting new bone formation, improving bone density and bone strength. Methods include walking, jogging, weightlifting, jumping rope, dancing, etc.
4. Avoid the sun
Denial of sun exposure prevents the skin from synthesizing vitamin D, which is not fully absorbed by the body, and exacerbates osteoporosis. It is recommended that when the outdoor light is strong, such as between 10 am and 4 PM, the exposure time is 20-30 minutes, 2-3 times a week. Older people and those with darker skin require longer periods of sun exposure.
5. Smoke
Smoking can cause accelerated bone resorption, which leads to accelerated bone mass loss, and can also cause decreased intestinal calcium absorption and premature menopause in women, which is a risk factor for a variety of bone and joint diseases.
6. Excessive drinking
Excessive drinking can increase cortisol secretion, increase urinary calcium excretion, and decrease intestinal calcium absorption. Alcohol will inhibit the normal metabolism of bone cells, will make bone destruction more than bone formation, more prone to osteoporosis.
Four signs that you may have osteoporosis
1. Pain
The most common form of aosteoporosis is low back pain that spreads along both sides of the spine, gets worse when standing or sitting for long periods of time, gets lighter during the day, and gets worse at night and early in the morning.
2. You get shorter
A drop of 2 centimeters in height within two years or a drop of 4 centimeters from the all-time high can be a sign of osteoporosis.
3. Hunched back
With age there is a noticeable lack of humpback, which is also a sign of osteoporosis. Most cases of this hunchback are because of osteoporosis that causes multiple vertebral compression fractures, which also indicates that osteoporosis is more serious.
4. Prone to fractures
Fracture is the most common and serious complication of osteoporosis, and it is prone to fracture during minor trauma or daily activities, including fractures of the hip, vertebra, arm and ankle. In addition, reduced overall mobility, attention to oral hygiene but also lose teeth, and fear of cold unrelated to temperature may be some of the early signs of osteoporosis.
