How To Fade Scars Advice

Have you experienced trauma in your past life that resulted in the formation of scars?

While many people take them as living memories and see them as part of the body, some people are bothered by them and want to hide them or even completely get rid of them. But skin healing is often done step by step. So how can we fade scars?

How do common scars form?

They usually occur after being scratched by a sharp instrument or after surgery. The formation of scars is due to the body's inflammatory response, unbalanced synthesis and degradation of collagen, abnormal mucopolysaccharides, and proliferation of fibroblasts. In hypertrophic scars, the decrease of lymphatic reflux and local edema can lead to hypertrophy of the scar, which is the inevitable product of the body's trauma repair. When the body tissue, especially the skin tissue, is damaged to a certain depth, the wound surface first appears an inflammatory reaction, leukocytes, macrophages, mast cells, etc. infiltrate, releasing a variety of cytokines (growth factors), fibroblasts and myofibroblasts A large number of cells proliferate and synthesize a large amount of collagen and matrix, resulting in abnormal collagen metabolism and arrangement, abnormal matrix deposition, and the influence of microcirculation and free radical factors, which promote the formation of scars.

Why are scars red?

If the wound is closed, it doesn't mean the healing process is complete. Scar tissue continues to mature for months to years. Collagen fibers proliferate in wounds, stabilizing scar tissue. At this time, the scar still has a large blood supply and turns red accordingly. Scars will only shrink gradually (scar shrinkage). The number of blood vessels in the scar tissue also decreases, allowing it to fade over time. Other causes of red scars can be inflammation or pollution during healing, which can negatively affect scar formation.

Scar Care Tips :

Sunscreen: Scar tissue cannot produce melanin and is therefore more susceptible to sun damage. So protect your scars from direct sunlight for at least three months and always wear sunscreen.

Avoid tight clothing: Scar tissue is particularly sensitive and prone to irritation, especially with fresh scars. Be careful not to rub or stain clothing on the scar.

Moderate exercise: Avoid excessive exercise for at least four weeks. The excessive movement puts a lot of stress on the tissue, which is why the scar can spread out like a bulge or even split open again.
